SpaceVac @ The Guildhall Northampton
SpaceVac were approached in summer 2019 by Northampton Borough Council about providing high-level cleaning services to the stunning Guildhall building in Northampton Town Centre.
As anyone who has visited this amazing space knows – the centrepiece of the building is the huge grand hall with its sprawling ceilings, balconies, futures and fittings. An extensive clean of the internal areas in the main hall was required following recent renovation work which had left a large amount of dust settled on both the high level fixtures and fittings and also the curtains on the main stage. The long original curtains that make up the backdrop to the stage are a trap for dust which not only looks unsightly, but under the hot stage lights – can also present a fire risk.
The team were engaged to remove the dust as alternative methods in the past had proven both expensive and time consuming – not least because the age of the building and the material used on the floors, prohibited the introduction of a cherry picker or the erection of a scaffold tower onsite.
There were a number of problems with the previous cleaning methods used to clean the dust from the room before:
- Large team of cleaners were required onsite
- Access equipment required to reach areas above head height which are not only expensive but could also potentially damage the original wood flooring
- The whole of the room would be unavailable for a week meaning lost revenue for the council who make use of the space for events and rentals
The total price previously quoted for this work had £5000 per clean

In total the 1 day it took a single cleaner to complete the job, means the clean costs just £350 meaning a total saving of £4650 PER CLEAN
