ATEX High-Level Cleaning Systems
Cleaning combustible dust shouldn’t mean compromising safety, compliance or productivity.
Facilities operating in ATEX and IECEx classified hazardous environments face the challenge of removing combustible dust from overhead pipework, ducting, cable trays and production equipment.
SpaceVac ATEX high-level cleaning systems use conductive carbon fibre pole technology, anti-static accessories and appropriately certified industrial vacuum equipment to help operators remove accumulated dust from ground level. This reduces reliance on scaffolding and access platforms, helping minimise downtime and disruption.
Manufactured in our IECEx-certified UK facility, our systems support specialist cleaning applications across industries including food production, pharmaceuticals, chemical processing, grain handling and industrial manufacturing.

ATEX Zones Explained
Hazardous areas are classified into ATEX zones based on how frequently an explosive atmosphere may occur. Understanding these classifications helps determine which cleaning equipment is suitable.
Gas Zones
- Zone 0: Present continuously or frequently.
- Zone 1: Likely during normal operation.
- Zone 2: Unlikely and only for short periods.
Dust Zones
- Zone 20: Present continuously or frequently.
- Zone 21: Likely during normal operation.
- Zone 22: Unlikely and only for short periods.
Selecting equipment suitable for your site’s ATEX classification is essential for managing combustible dust safely.
ATEX Zones Explained
Where Combustible Dust Accumulates
Combustible dust can accumulate on difficult-to-reach surfaces throughout industrial facilities, often going unnoticed during routine cleaning. If disturbed, accumulated dust can become airborne and, in the presence of an ignition source, create a serious fire or explosion hazard.
SpaceVac ATEX high-level cleaning systems help facilities remove dust build-up from:
- Overhead pipework and ducting
- Cable trays and lighting fixtures
- Structural beams and roof trusses
- Ventilation and extraction systems
- Machinery frameworks and conveyors
Regular removal of accumulated dust helps reduce combustible dust hazards, supports safer working conditions and improves housekeeping in industrial environments.
