Left unchecked, blocked gutters and downpipes can cause leaks in buildings – risking not only structural damage to the property, but also health risks to visitors and working within the space. In addition, the build up of organic material in the drainage channels that ran through the car park posed a risk of flooding during the winter or periods of high rainfall.
All of Tescos stores featured a variety of external guttering and guttering channels in the car park which were filling with organic material like leaves, sticks and soil.

A nationwide rollout of SpaceVac enabled the facilities management team onsite to quickly and safely complete external maintenance of their properties at a fraction of the cost of previous cleaning methods. The systems interlocking poles allowed cleaning to take place without the need for hiring expensive access equipment, whilst also completing work in a fraction of the time and with minimal disruption to visitors of the store. In addition, the range of cleaning tools included with the external system also provided cleaning teams, a flexible range of tools to easily remove material from the ground level drainage channels onsite as well.
